  Our builder-installed 'turf grass and a tree' landscape out front was replaced with a dry stream bed and medium/low water plantings. The inefficient spray irrigation was replaced with drip and rotary nozzles. We went from 82,350 gallons/yr to 22,863 gallons. Water is harvested from the roof via rain chains. Additionally, a grey water system - which uses the water from a washing machine - also provides irrigation. The work on our yard was done by me as a homeowner and then my company, The Yard Fairy (www.yardfairy.com), over several years. Our last major round of work was the new walkways and plantings a few years ago.
