  Urban Farm of MUSC is a 1/2 acre organic farm with the mission to educate our community to eat more nutritious food to improve their overall health. - Each raised bed is irrigated individually and hoses have shutoff devices. - Rainwater flowing off the garden shed's rooft is directed to the rain barrel, which overflows into a perennial bed. - Beds, walkways and the patio have either a porous covering or mulch, plants (vegetables, annuals, perennials, herbs and fruit trees). - Plants are grouped according to sunlight and water needs. - Soil health is maintained organically using compost, worm castings and covered with mulch. Sustainable gardening methods also include: square foot, keyhole, and straw bale gardening.
