  OFG at home near Moonlight Beach: Last fall we began our Ocean Friendly Garden project working alongside Surfrider Foundation. During the phase two retrofit we worked with the San Diego County Water Authority program. They provided our wonderful design by Environs. Mark Schroeder & Company implemented the plan with care and an overall incredible degree of expertise. Our project is now complete and we are very happy with the final look. We started with lawn throughout the yard as well as the boulevard area. We now have many California native plants mixed with drought tolerant garden flora. The drip system was completely revamped and we work diligently to keep the plants healthy without over watering. We are happy knowing we do not use harsh fertilizers or other pollutants, especially so close to the ocean. Saving water is a crucial part of our design and we feel very good about being water wise. We believe our yard will continue to grow in beauty as ground cover fills in and the many different varieties of flowers mature and bring butterflies, hummingbirds and other welcome life to our garden.
