  The original lawn and most plants were removed (front and back) about 15 years ago when we bought the property. We irrigate only in very hot weather. We have 3 rain barrels. The asphalt driveway was replaced with permeable Turf Block. All plants are very low water use (succulents and natives and others). We have a worm box for compost and also raise chickens that eat most of our kitchen waste. The chickens also provide great fertilizer!
