  An old mix of grasses in this front yard were removed, then the compacted soil was loosened up and revived with compost. A swale and basin were created, then sheet mulching was done over the entire front yard. The plan is to install rain gutters and downspouts to flow into the swale and basin. Until then, the runoff from the front part of the roof sheet flows into the garden. Update 2017: Gutters installed and downspout directed into FY swale!
