  This yard was a joint project between Green Gardens Group (www.greengardensgroup.com) and the City of Oxnard in December 2015. A kikuyu grass lawn was replaced by a series of gravel swales/retention basins and drought-tolerant plantings. Channels were cut across the concrete pathway to the front door. A larger channel at the corner accommodates a plastic pipe that hooks up to the downspout and carries rainwater underneath the pathway and into the retention swales.
