Description:
West Basin Municipal Water District's water recycling facility had a well-pruned hedge covering the majority of the front of it's major building - approximately 1,200 sq. ft. It was transformed into an OFG, partially through Hands-On Workshops led by G3/The Green Gardens Group. Rainwater from the 8,000 sq. ft. roof is detained by two underground, milk-crate-like detention boxes that are paver-like shapes that click together (the product is called EcoRain). Excess water overflows into the parking lot through a pop-up device (created by NDS). EcoRain pavers underlie the walkway throughout the garden, helping to further detain rainwater.
